Anemone x hybrida ‘Honorine Jobert’ (Japanese Anemone)

Overview and growing conditions

‘Honorine Jobert’ is a flowering perennial that has become a more commonly used plant over the last few years. It is said to be able to handle full sun, but in my own garden it need at least some shade to do well. The sunnier the location, the more water it needs as well.

When does it flower? How long does it flower?

‘Honorine Jobert’ send up white flowers in late summer to early fall for about six weeks.

How easy is it to care for ‘Honorine Jobert’ Anemone?

Overall score: 7 (somewhat easy). This is commonly considered a very low-maintenance plant, but I have struggled to get this one established in my own garden. I do have it planted in under a silver maple tree, so it has major competition for water and nutrients. It’s likely that if I planted it somewhere with better soil and water it would be growing much more vigorously. It hasn’t died, but it hasn’t grown in size since I planted it, and I don’t get the best flower display.

Problems with ‘Honorine Jobert’ Anemone

When situated in the right location with the right amount of water, ‘Honorine Jobert’ does not have any serious issues.
